In this time of economic crisis, what we do, here at the rescue, is difficult yet necessary. Without your help, we could not continue.

We tell ourselves each day it will get easier or you can't save them all. These are just words to get through each day, each situation, each cry for help.

Yet, everytime we cry for help, YOU RESPOND!

If there is anyone who has made a donation this year, and I have forgotten to mention it, please accept my sincerest apology and heartfelt thanks.

Sometimes support comes in ways other than money. There are those out there who cannot afford to donate money, but who are always there to help. Whether it be to work in the barns so we can be free to do paperwork, fundraise or just do what needs to be done, or transporting horses in emergent situations or just to lend moral support to the horses and to us.

This help is just as important as the money needed to save these animals. What if we were rich but no one was available to give them love and TLC, would they thrive, be happy? Most likely not, they would be cared for but would just exist. They would be safe, but not happy.

Love and happiness is what most of these horses are missing. Half of the rescues we get in are just unwanted and unloved, and very confused as to what they did wrong.

How do you explain you did nothing wrong, when they are standing in a trailer for 3 days waiting to be killed and cut up? How do you explain you did nothing wrong when you are no longer with the person who has cared for you for the last 10 years? You don't.

You explain that everything will be okay now, you are safe. You explain that you will be getting a new person and home and it will be just as good or better. You explain you have the right to choose who you want as your own! This is what we do, everyday.
